The Location
2011, 2023
by Dan Senn
of Angels (in three sections)
for 6-8 High Sopranos, 6-8 High Tenors, Violincello, & Stereo Fixed Media
4:12, 4:33, 4:12
= 12 minutes and 57 seconds without breaks.
The Location of Angels (2023) was composed in Prague, 2011, and largely rewritten at Studio FMEra in Watertown Wisconsin in February 2023 and us comprisde of the following three sections.
1. We Are In Love, voices, fixed media.
2. Into the World, *soprano, 'cello, fixed media.
3. We Are Flying, voices, fixed media.
The fixed media parts are in stereo and made form recorded lydes (2011) from Senn's Prague Gamelyde.
* A separate solo sopranists may be used.

The first section may be sung a cappella but was composed as the first work in this set. The second section may also be performed alone, but written to effectively set apart the 1st and last sections. The third section makes little sense in isolation.

The second section is to be performed directly in front of the singers with performers exiting the proscenium unless singing in the other sections.

The third section uses quarter-tone notation for the sung parts but will be easily adjusted to as guided by pre-recorded lyde parts made from found objects.

A minumum of three voices on a part with equal number on each.

Here are the demo videos with sound as produced by Sibelius. As the first and third sections require a conductor, perhaps, the middle section also, there are two versions of each video, one for demo of all parts and another two (optional) for performance. A PDF of the full score is provided here.

NOTES
This work has clear Christological overtones with origins from an early childhood experience by composer around the age two expanded to undeserved larger reflections. Also the texts in the first and last sections especially reflect childlike expressions.
