Flutterbye Five (see video)
December 1994 (top)
.
Made from found metal resonators,
3/16-inch threaded rod and washers.
Instruments are played by releasing
washers (moths) which cascade
(flutter) downward over threaded rod.
Instruments may be played like an hour
glass. Sounds generated by fluttering
moths are colored by metal resonators.
Instruments are presented in standing
installations and as part of audience
participation pieces during
live performances.
