Mind (see sample video)
Video and Sound by Dan Senn

duration 6:50

Of One Mind (2023) was filmed at Riverside Park, Watertown, Wisconsin, on July 24, 2023. It was edited, the sound track performed, at Studio FMEra in the same city. The video is of a bell house constructed in the early 1930s as part of Roosevelt's Works Progress Administraton (WPA). The ediface, still in good shape, was made of field stone, broken chunks of old concrete with mortar raised ornamentally to create highways for insects and platforms for flowers.

The title of the work is from a translation of the I Ching into sound using my Lyde instruments. Here Lyconbinate L4345 merges L43 and L45. Within the video, however, L4345 is condensed and integrated into the visual-rhythmic structure of the work.

As a child I played in this building as did my mother before becoming a soldier, along with my father, in the Second World War. The large black ant in the opening frame was checking my credentials. DS 072723
