Philip Mantione and Alysse Stepanian are co-founders of MANY (Musicians and Artists in New York), anon-profit presenting and performing arts organization that produces multi-media events in NYC. Stepanian's paintings, photographs, performances, installations and videos have been presented internationally. The Field video evolved from Stepanian's dream, in which she encounters herself, and a friend from the past, in a field. Theimages play between the "me", the "other me", the "other", and the "other, other." Through the invasion of thebody the self connects with the outside world, and by encountering the "other" understands the self and realizesexperience.
The Field is presented with Mantione's music, excerpts from Paralyse and Radiator. Mantione explores the multiplicity of random events by using the computer as both a tool and an instrument. His use of randomnessallows for the discovery of an underlying musical cohesiveness unique to each individual listener. The video and music were created independently.
