James Croson studies at the Eastman School of Music. Dan Ganoung is graduate of the Film, Video, and Animation Department of the Rochester Institute of Technology. Animie is a collaborative artwork by composer James Croson and filmmaker Dan Ganoung. The images originate in traditional camera animation which is then edited in video. Various techniques explore a strobing effect which is dependent on the persistence of vision, and project vivid colors and abstract shapes which are really "mixed" in the viewers' visual perception system. The music is computer generated: the sounds, gestures, and form are melded to the visual images.
