Dialectics Program Notes Dialectics started by editing together still screen grabs from a Java applet designed by Piran Montford that generates random Mondrianesque images. The logic and narrative arc of the piece organically grew through extensive discussions, and viewings of Mondrians' work with collaborator Charles Aitken. The sound program is an electronic transformation of a small number of acoustic sound events. Both sound and visual elements are put into motion by using contemporary computer processes and the aesthetic tradition of Musique Concrete. Paint Her Ass Program Notes Paint Her Ass was created from the opening rape scene of the move Deathwish (1974). Especially offensive to me was the use of a can of spray paint in the depiction of the sexual assault and the title was derived from a line a dialog that accompanied this act. This work was created to stand in opposition to those who would package the rape and murder of a woman as entertainment. The work was created using computer processes to manipulate the source material in the aesthetic tradition of Musique Concrete.
