Bio The Los Angeles Times describes Peter Terry as a composer with a "prodigious ability to write virtuosic melodic lines and ostinatos." Journal SEAMUS writes, "Terry has developed an individual style, both as a composer and a performer, for the electronic wind instrument. He is a master in creating and performing in this medium." Audiences throughout the United States have confirmed these opinions. The recipient of numerous honors and awards, Peter Terry's music has been performed on prestigious festivals, concert series, and in alternative galleries and concert halls throughout the United States and Europe. He is recorded on the Cambria CD-1089, SIMPLE REQUESTS and has a solo CD of his electronic and acoustic works on Cambria CD-1103 "A HALO of DARK STARS", performed by his ensemble, Electro-Metamorphosis. As JOURNAL SEAMUS states, "Terry has clearly integrated technology into his creative life, expanding concepts of performance, composition, and system design and blurring the lines between them." In 1998 Peter received an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship for his multi-media and computer-based works. Dr. Terry is the Director of Instructional Technology at Bluffton College, Bluffton, Ohio where he teaches courses in multimedia and video and audio production. Ascending Through Difficult Light Ascending Through Difficult Light based on highly processed images of water and sky. It was my intent to look at the motion of these two natural elements in a manner that refocuses our attention on common every day phenomena. The landscape in Northwest Ohio where I live is very flat and static, but the winter skys can be very dynamic. As a result we tend to see the farmland as a slowly evolving cycle of crops which keeps running on in an almost timeless manner. Against this the sky is a continuously changing and evolving tableau. The music for Ascending was performed by the composer on a Fender custom shop MIDI strat controlling an interactive system which generates the piece in response to the performance of the guitarist. It is frequently performed live as part of his concert program in the ensemble Electro-Metamorphosis.
