"Marblehead" was orginally created for choreographer Daniel Burkholder. The only information he gave me about his dance was its total length, and that for props he would be using a chair and an enormous glass bowl full of marbles. So with that I decided to base the music entirely on the sounds of marbles.... The title comes from the comment of a friend discovering me one evening throwing marbles in and on the contents of my kitchen, in search of interesting sounds.
