Vyjednává (see
video) 4K Video with Stereo Sound by Dan Senn Duration 4:41 minutes (Click banner image to enlarge) |
|
Toustovač Vyjednává
was filmed
in 2024 in Holešovice, Prague, at the corner of Argentinská and U
Průhonu (streets). The English title, "A Toaster Negotiates" refers to
a failed manual kitchen toaster that seves here as a found insturment.
It is about to be tossed into the Electro recycle bin. This sound
track, in
variation, is called "Toaster" and is part of the Flat
Works collection. This film is comprised of rhythmic video mappings of a group of recycle bins, at one location, using a process closely related to the sound improvisations. Read RKM Interview of Dan Senn. |
As
the objects are similar, but for graffiti, labeling and dirt, a
perceptual reconstruction occurs in the viewing. This method of image
mapping, again, is related, analogously, to the sound improvisation,
the mediums merged in the final
editing. As an interdisciplinary artist most often working alone, I have used mixed intermedia strategies as a way of communicating meaning unknown to myself and, perhaps, to the patrons experiencing the work, a process that enables perceptual discovery that is neither simple reportage nor propagandistic.
