Requiem for My Father (2009) by Dan Senn RFMF is for a cappella SATB choir and has a duration of 34 minutes and is the final offerring in an trilogy of works which includes Czech Rail (2007), and Mass for Heavy Rail: Requiem for My Father (2009). RFMF is an a cappella variation of the choral parts for MFHR: RFMF and presented as a practical alternative. It is also is presented out of context as its tonal centers, the durations of the sections, and often the rhythms, were born out of the Czech Rail backing sounds, i.e. the D-flat Phrygian mode of the Tuba Mirum was not hatched from thin air. The words for RFMF are from Mozart's Requiem, a Latin text which is then freely augmented with English verse of my own. The title, Requiem for My Father, is a dedication to my father, Harold Alton Senn, from Watertown, Wisconsin, who passed away just as the choral writing was begun in the summer of 2008. The mp3 files below were produced by the Sebelius Music Notation software which cannot reproduce the actual words nor does it generate crescendos or decresendos. It also ignores notes at times, and sometimes skips a beat. The score examples are from the MFHR version and vary a little from what is heard. 01 - Introitus
