Artists were honored Artist Trust honored these artists and community arts activists with $1,000 awards, part of the group's anniversary celebration: Leo Adams, a Yakima visual artist and designer who has helped nurture Central Washington's cultural life; Miriam Barnett, a Bellingham weaver, jewelry and bead artist who has been active in Whatcom County arts and craft programs; Pat Graney, a Seattle choreographer whose community involvement has included organizing dance and theater programs in women's prisons; Alan Lau, a Seattle visual artist and writer who has championed the literary and visual artworks of Asian Pacific Americans; Wendy Franklund Miller, a Spokane visual artist and community arts organizer; Mary Ann Peters, a Seattle visual artist, long-time freedom of expression activist and public school arts volunteer; Judith Roche, aSeattle poet and arts educator active inthe founding of literary festivals; Dan Senn, a Tacoma composer, video artist and community arts activist; Barbara Earl Thomas, a Seattle visual artist, writerand arts volunteer; Linda Whitney, an Olympia playwright, director, graphic artist and community theater organizer; Brooke Creswell, a Yakima musician andusic educator.
