Cracks & Edges (2023) was filmed near the corner of Plynáry and U Městských Domů in Holešovice, Prague on August 25, 2023. The work is based on the three accessible sides a single crack in the plaster encasing a corner block of a stone fence, this two short blocks from Gasworks Studio where it was edited. For a subject, I was looking for “sequences of industrially generated objects/markings with variations caused by usage and age. Object repetitiveness, OK. Laboring artifacts, the best incidental, made by trades people  and in the process of decay”.	As with other experimental videos of mine, I wondered if it was possible to lift this immensly complex fissure from obscurity... to give it, perhaps, an unexpected life elsewhere. The resulting short work, Cracks & Edges, Raku-like in approach and spirit, is paired with Lycons #54 and #16 from my 64 Interpretations of the I Ching, recordings made years earlier with me performing and encouraging other obscurities/sounds as yet unnoticed. He has been a professor of music and art in the United States and Australia and travels internationally as a lecturer, performer and installation artist. He lives in Prague where he directs the Echofluxx festivals, and Watertown, Wisconsin, the USA. Dan's work moves freely between expressive extremes and languages depending upon the aesthetic joust at hand.
